The United States continues to face a severe blood shortage as a result of unprecedented blood drive cancellations across the country amid the coronavirus outbreak. Help save lives! If you are healthy and meet eligibility guidelines, please consider participating in tomorrow’s blood drive hosted by the Surfside Police Department and OneBlood organization. Residents as young as 16 (with guardian consent) and/or who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood.
When: Wednesday, October 21 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Town Hall municipal parking lot, located at 9293 Harding Avenue
To make an appointment, visit www.oneblood.org/donate-now and use sponsor code 6929. All donors will receive a FREE OneBlood gift and wellness checkup that includes COVID-19 antibody test, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count and cholesterol screening.
A limited number of people will be allowed on the Blood Mobile at any given time in accordance with CDC guidelines and social distancing requirements. Masks must be worn at all times. Both the FDA and the U.S. Surgeon General have said it is completely safe to donate blood. Moreover, they have issued a call to action to citizens to come out and donate.
