The Town of Surfside is proud to participate in Ocean Conservancy's 34th Annual International Coastal Cleanup and encourages residents to join in on the eco-friendly initiative!  Taking place on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Surfside volunteers will meet at the Surfside Community Center. The International Coastal Cleanup is the world's largest, one-day volunteer initiative for our oceans and waterways, and consists of volunteers around the world simultaneously joining efforts to reduce marine debris in their communities.

Scientists estimate that more than 17 billion pounds of plastic enter our ocean every year, threatening all sorts of marine life, the health of humans, and local economies. Over the past 34 years, Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup has brought together nearly 13 million people from over 150 countries to collect nearly 250 million pounds of trash along our coastlines and waterways.
