Surfside marked a significant milestone in promoting inclusivity with the unveiling of ADA-compliant beach access mats at the 94th Street beach entrance. The event, held on Wednesday, Dec. 11, celebrated the installation of three additional mats made possible by a generous grant from AARP. These new mats are now available at 94th, 92nd, and 88th Streets, enhancing accessibility for residents and visitors with mobility challenges.
The mats provide a safe, durable pathway, allowing individuals using wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers to navigate the sandy terrain and enjoy Surfside’s beautiful beaches. This initiative reflects the Town’s commitment to fostering a welcoming environment for everyone.
The Town expressed gratitude to AARP for their support and to the community members who attended the unveiling to celebrate this achievement. The mats symbolize Surfside’s ongoing efforts to prioritize inclusivity and enhance quality of life for its residents and visitors alike.
