The Town of Surfside is partnering with the YMCA of South Florida for the 2024-2025 after-school program, providing a variety of activities and support for children in grades K-8. The program aims to create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters social skills, creativity, and healthy habits.
Scheduled to run daily until 6 p.m., the program includes trained staff, healthy snacks, outdoor activities, and games, offering a comprehensive experience for participating children. “This partnership allows us to offer enriching after-school opportunities right here in Surfside,” said Adrian Hernandez, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director. “We are thrilled to bring interactive workshops, arts and crafts, sports, STEM activities, homework help, and character development to our community.”
The after-school program will be held at the Surfside Community Center, with transportation available from local schools. The cost is $300 per month for Surfside residents and $350 for non-residents. The program also provides financial assistance and sibling discounts to make it accessible to more families. Additionally, there are provisions for children with special needs, including an intake assessment to tailor their after-school experience.
