Important Utility Rate Information

As of October 1, 2017, utility rates have increased in order to assist the Town in recovering the cost of providing utility services, promote equity in utility rates, encourage water conservation, improve the Town’s water and sewer capital infrastructure, and enable the Town to secure funding for capital improvement debt service costs. This utility rate increase is the first increase to take place in seven years. For more information, please call 305.861.4863 and dial “0" for the Public Works department.

Mission Statement:

The utility services are provided by the Town with the goals of providing for the continual supply of quality potable water and the providing for the safe and environmentally sound removal of waste water.

Services, Functions and Activities:

Additional wastewater and potable water responsibilities include the testing, maintenance, and restoration of the wastewater infrastructure system. This project is well underway. Pursuing this project improves the system and reduces the risk of potential environmental hazards and nearly eliminates water losses and sewage treatment surcharges from leaks into and out of the system. The savings from the elimination of leaks (inflow) will help to reduce non-metered service use and thereby reduce the amount of future rate changes.
