What are the hours of the 96th Street Park?
The time varies throughout the year but falls within the time frame of 30 minutes after sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset.

Are we allowed to use any type of sports cleats on the field?
No cleats of any kind are allowed to be used on the field; cleats are only permitted for approved Parks and Recreation Activities.

Can we use the soccer goals to play a game?
The goals are used for department purposes only.

Do you supply Park equipment?
Yes, we supply all kinds of Park equipment for kids of all ages with a valid driver’s license or town ID to ensure our property is returned.

Can you turn the lights on while we utilize the field?
No, the lights are for department programs only.

While soccer is going on, can I participate with my child and take pictures?
No. We enforce this rule to allow your child to get the most out of the program and eliminate all distractions.

Are we allowed to bring food into the Park to have a picnic?
No outside food is permitted in the Park. Large groups are not authorized to utilize the park without department consent.

Who can use the pool?
Anyone that resides in Surfside or stays in a Surfside hotel can use the pool, with valid proof of residency/stay. Information on obtaining a Surfside Resident ID.

How do I get my Surfside ID?
Property owners can bring two of the following: current utility bill, current bank statement or current credit card statement. All rentals must bring a valid lease and one of the following: current utility bill, current bank statement or current credit card statement.

Can Surfside hotel guests use the pool?
Yes, with proof from hotel of  how many guests, arrival date and departure date. Room key will not be accepted as proof. For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 305.866.3635.

Who is considered a Surfside Resident?
The Town limits are from 87th street to 96th Street. Residents must show proof of a valid Surfside Address.

Can I bring guests to the pool?
Yes, with a valid Surfside Resident ID guests are permitted. The guest policy is up to five guests per household per day at the cost of $5.00 per person.

For those that will be using the Community Center/Pool for more than one day, Surfside Residents can purchase for their guests three (3) consecutive day or seven (7) consecutive day guest passes.

  • 3-Day Single Guest Pass Fee: $10.00

  • 3-Day Family Guest Pass Fee: $50.00(Up to Five People)

  • 7-Day Single Guest Pass Fee: $25.00

  • 7-Day Family Guest Pass Fee: $100.00 (Up to Five People)

What are the hours of the 90th Street Tot Lot?
The 90th Street Tot Lot is not staffed and is intended for use from sunrise to sunset.

Is the aquatic facility open year round and what are the hours?
The pool is open year round. The pool hours change during different seasons: pool hours.

What types of aquatic programs are offered at the facility?
We offer a variety of programs for youth, adults and seniors. For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 305.866.3635.

How big is the pool?
25 yards length – 131,000 gallons

Why does my child have to wear rubber pants/swim diapers?
Children 3 and under must wear rubber pants/swim diapers. - A fecal incident in the pool will cause water contamination which can lead to possible spread of bacteria and closure of the pool.

How old does my child need to be in order to use the hot tub and sauna?
Children are not permitted in the hot tub; participants must be 18 and older.

What is the lighting detection system?
The system alerts the public when lighting is in the area. If the lightning warning detection system sounds off, patrons will cease activity and seek shelter in locker rooms. The facility will be closed until further notice.

What items can’t go in the pool?
Flotation devices, mask, fins or snorkels are not permitted. (All pool items must be U.S. Coast Guard approved.)

Can I bring outside food to the pool?
The facility has a strict no outside food policy. Food brought must be consumed outside the pool area. For your convenience we have an onsite snack bar with food available for purchase.

What are the height requirements for the activity pool and slide?
The play structure is designed for children 48 inches and under. Children must be supervised by an adult 18 or older at all times.

* The water slide is for riders at least 48" tall; one person at a time is required for slide use.

How many laps do I have to swim to swim a mile?
70 lengths = 35 laps (down and back) = 1 mile

Do you offer Summer Camp?
We currently offer Winter Camp, Spring Camp, Summer Camp/Teen Camp, and Extended Camp.

What age group does Summer/Teen Camp offer?
Ages 6-8, 9-12 and 12-15(Teen Camp).

What age group does Winter Camp offer?
This camp ranges from 6-12.

What age group does Spring Camp offer?
This camp ranges from 6-12.

How long is Summer/Teen Camp?
All camps run in accordance with the Miami-Dade County public schools calendar.

How long does Winter Camp run for?
Winter Camp is based off the Miami-Dade School winter break and runs for 2 weeks.

How long does Spring Camp run for?
Spring Camp is based off the Miami-Dade School spring break and runs for 1 week.

What are the hours offered for camp?
Begin at 8:00 am and end at 6:00 pm, hours are subject to change.

What forms are required for registration?
If age 6, proof of age is required at the time of registration (Birth Certificate and/or Passport). At the time of registration, you will be required to fill out a registration packet.

Do I need to show proof of residency if I am a Surfside Resident?
Yes, proof of residency is required at time of registration for all Surfside Residents. For information on which proof is acceptable, please contact the Surfside Community Center 305.866.3635.

Do I need to be a Surfside Resident?
No, Non-Residents are welcomed to any camps offered.

If Camp is full, is there a waiting list?
Yes, we do have a waiting list. However, the chances of a child canceling are very small. We encourage you to sign up as soon as camp is available.
